The children in 1H have been trying really hard to form some letters using cursive handwriting. This week we are learning to write the letters from the Curly Caterpillar Family!
On Friday 1H started their indoor PE topic of Gymnastics. We played lots of games involving travelling in different ways at different speeds and finding spaces. In the lesson we learned about balancing and the different body parts we can use to hold a balance. Take a look at our learning.

This afternoon we went outside and learned some football skills in outdoor PE. We now know how to stop a ball using our feet and how to kick a ball using the side of our foot. Next week we are going to learn about dribbling!

Today we visited the school library. We listened to the story ‘Cinder the Bubble-Blowing Dragon’ and then chose a book to take home. Our library day is MONDAY!
This morning 1H thoroughly enjoyed a visit from Healthy Mind UK. We learned that the brain has 6 parts and each part has a different job to do. We also took a trip into a brain to learn about how to keep our brain healthy!
The children have had a fantastic first day in 1H today. We have learned lots about each other and what it is like to be in Year 1. It is going to be a super year, Mrs Thornley and Mrs Kennington are very excited!
